Parent Of Primrose Student Tests Positive For New Coronavirus

Both Somers campuses will be closed Monday to allow staff time to deep clean buildings.

SOMERS, NY — A parent of a student at Primrose Elementary School has tested positive for the new coronavirus, according to multiple reports citing a letter sent to families by school officials Friday.

Somers Central School District Superintendent Raymond Blanch said the parent had not visited the school in recent weeks, News 12 Westchester reported. Additionally, both family members and the student have tested negative for the virus officially known as COVID-19 and are currently under quarantine.

Out of caution, Somers school campuses will be closed this weekend and Monday to allow staff time to complete deep cleaning of school buildings. All school activities scheduled this weekend will be rescheduled, and spring sports will now start Tuesday, the letter said.
