Peekskill Man Accused Of Having Illegal Drugs
Police said the man's car was not staying in its lane, so they pulled it over.
YORKTOWN, NY — A Peekskill man was accused of having illegal drugs during a traffic stop. Yorktown police said Dwight Lawrence, 31, of Peekskill, was charged with third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felonies, second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, and fail to maintain lane, a traffic infraction.
Police said, around 9:45 p.m. Thursday, officers were patrolling Route 6 when they said they saw a car that wasn't staying in its lane.
After stopping the car and speaking with Lawrence, who was the driver, officers said they detected the smell of marijuana coming from the car.

Police said Lawrence was in possession of both marijuana and cocaine.
He was arrested and taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.

Lawrence was arraigned and released on his own recognizance to appear in Yorktown Justice Court Oct. 13.
