Peekskill Man Arrested For Driving Without License

Police pulled him over after observing him following another vehicle too closely.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Peekskill man was arrested for allegedly driving without a license. Yorktown police said Maurice O. Anderson, 26, of Peekskill, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, and unlicensed driver, fail to obey a traffic control device, uninspected motor vehicle and following too closely, traffic infractions.

An officer on routine patrol around 10:35 a.m. Sept. 12 on Route 6 in the area of Mill Street saw a vehicle that was following another too closely and that failed to obey a traffic control device.

The vehicle was stopped and its driver was identified as Anderson.

Police said he was driving without a driver's license as well as while his privilege to drive in New York was suspended.

Anderson's vehicle also did not have a valid state safety inspection.

He was arrested at the scene and taken to the Yorktown Police Headquarters.

Anderson was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court Oct. 11.
