Peekskill Man Charged With Stealing Scrap Metal: Police

Police said the theft took place in March.

YORKTOWN, NY — Allegedly stolen scrap metal led to the arrest of a Peekskill man Aug. 23 in Yorktown. Police said Jeremiah J. Jones, 35, of Marion Avenue in Peekskill was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony. A Yorktown police officer was sent on March 16 to check out a theft from Tompkins Garage.

The investigation found that an unknown male had stolen the scrap metal worth about $1,420 from the garage around 11:19 p.m. March 11, police said. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

The suspect was identified as Jeremiah J. Jones, and police contacted him.

Jones voluntarily turned himself in at police headquarters Aug. 23 and he was placed under arrest.

He was processed on the charge and released $100 bail

Jones is due back in Yorktown Town Court Sept. 26.
