Peekskill Man Faces 2 Felony DWI Charges In Yorktown

Police alleged the repeat offender's blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Peekskill resident accused of unsafe driving while intoxicated in Yorktown faces two felony charges and two traffic infractions.

At 3:10 a.m. Sunday, a Yorktown police officer on patrol on Route 6 said he saw a car change lanes unsafely and fail to dim its lights for oncoming traffic.

After stopping the driver, the officer surmised that the 45-year-old was drunk. Luis F. Guanga Loja was taken to Yorktown Police Department headquarters where it was determined that his blood-alcohol level was higher than 0.18 percent.

A background check revealed that he had been convicted of aggravated DWI (blood-alcohol level above 0.18 percent) within the past 10 years, police said.

He was charged with felony aggravated DWI and felony DWI, as well as unsafe lane switching and failure to dim headlights. He is due in Yorktown town court Sept. 14.
