Photo and Fiber Art Exhibit to Help Children's Charity
A free exhibit of Ken and Nancy Mirman's art is at the Mahopac Library during March.
An exhibit of photos and fiber art by Ken and Nancy Mirman is being presented March 1-28 by the Mahopac Public Library. Proceeds from the sale of any pieces will be donated to Friends of Karen, a local charity that provides vital, practical and comprehensive support to families caring for a child battling cancer or another life-threatening illness.
Ken (the photographer) focuses on the natural world, and believes that photography is a means of seeing and experiencing nature in a fuller way. “Nature is all around,” he says. “All you have to do is look.” He is a member of the Westchester Photographic Society.
Nancy (the fiber artist) has won numerous awards for her quilts. Her work has evolved to include multi-media, such as beading and paper along with fabric. She has authored several books, and teaches and lectures about quilting in the Tri-State area. She is a member of Northern Star Quilters Guild and FiberartNE.

The Mirmans have supported Friends of Karen since its beginning in 1978, when many friends of the MacInnes family raised funds so they could bring home their terminally-ill daughter Karen from the hospital to spend her last days surrounded by family and friends.
