Police Accuse Yorktown Man of Falsely Collecting Unemployment Benefits

Police say he was, in fact, employed.

Kent N. Wolfson of Yorktown Heights faces charges of Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and Falsifying Business Records 1st Degree, both Felonies.

The March 5 arrest by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation stemmed from a complaint received by the state Department of Labor Special Investigation Division.

Police allege that Wolfson, 33, unlawfully collected more than $11,500 worth of unemployment insurance benefits between October of 2012 and May of 2013. False business records were generated by Wolfson when he certified weekly that he was totally unemployed when in fact he was gainfully employed.

Wolfson was arraigned and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to reappear in Fishkill town court on March 10.
