Portion Of Route 118 To Be Renamed In Yorktown

The road will honor the memory of Army Major Clayton Carpenter.

YORKTOWN, NY — A portion of Route 118 will be dedicated to the memory of a Lakeland High School graduate killed in a 2014 training mission at an Army airfield. The dedication ceremony honoring Major Clayton Carpenter will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16 near the intersection of Routes 118 and 202.

He was killed Jan. 15, 2014 in a training-related incident in Savannah, GA at Hunter Army Airfield.
