Property Maintenance Law on the Somers Town Board Agenda April 9
The Town Council will also hold public hearings on Somers Crossing and Hidden Meadows.

Somers town officials have a busy agenda for Thursday’s meeting.
There will be two public hearings.
One concerns two issues with Somers Crossing—the draft environmental impact statement and the zoning amendment. The other has to do with water and sewers for Hidden Meadows.

Also the board is expected to set a public hearing date on a proposed law dealing with keeping property—private and public, occupied or vacant—free of vermin, hazards, litter, nuisance and debris.
This law would give the town authority to issue citations to any owner or tenant, requiring clean-up within 30 days. Fines for non-compliance would range from $250 to $7,500. If an owner or occupant does not comply, the town could have it cleaned up; the cost would become a tax lien on the property until paid.
