
The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for Yorktown and the rest of Westchester County today. A red flag warning means that conditions are ripe for outdoor fires. These conditions include: strong winds and low humidity.
The red flag warning is in effect from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Surrounding counties, including Putnam and Rockland, are also under the warning.
Winds are expected to be between 15 and 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. The peak winds and lowest relative humidity values are expected through the afternoon.
