School For Students With Autism Opens In Yorktown

The school has the capacity for up to 390 students.

YORKTOWN, NY — The former Loyola Seminary property is now the home to a private school for people with autism. Yearly tuition for the school starts at $124,000.

Shrub Oak International School, at 3151 Stony St., has the capacity for up to 390 students and said it expects to enroll 40 by the end of the year, the Journal News said.

In addition to students from the United States, the school has signed up students from Bangladesh, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

According to the school's website, its mission is "to empower students to successfully pursue higher education and/or meaningful career, while increasing their independence for adult life. We enable students to be participating and contributing members of their community."
