Service for Judith Ann Conklin

The Yorktown Heights resident was 71.

Judith Ann Conklin, 71, of Yorktown Heights, New York and Laguna Niguel, California passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Mt. Kisco, New York after a brief illness. Born in 1944 in Mt. Kisco, New York, the fifth daughter and youngest of six children born to the late Clifford R. and Winifred G. (nee Towey) Conklin.

After graduating from Yorktown High School, Judy attended Kings County Hospital Center School of Nursing in Brooklyn, New York with the class of 1966 graduating as a Registered Nurse. In 1967 Judy was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. After completing Officer Training School at Shepard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, Second Lieutenant Conklin was stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base near Lompoc, California for her tour of duty. After being honorably discharged, Judy studied as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.

In 1969, Judy bought her first home in Laguna Niguel, California. Over her lifetime, Judy would travel the country covering CRNA shifts at various hospitals and meeting many people from all walks of life, something she truly loved.

Judy is survived by a brother, Robert Conklin, of Saugerties, New York; cousins, Pat Conklin of Yorktown Heights, New York and Art Conklin of Yorktown Heights, New York and Sebring, Florida; aunt, Florence Towey of Purdys, New York; brother-in-law, Moe Mulligan of Indianapolis, Indiana; and many Nieces, Nephews, Grand Nieces, Grand Nephews and many beloved friends. She is predeceased by her sisters, Winifred Brunelli, Ella Bohne, Elizabeth Buckholz and Marie Mulligan.

Graveside service with military honors will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2016 at the family plot of Amawalk Hill Cemetery, Amawalk, New York. Memorial contributions in honor of Judy may be directed to the Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps (yvac.net).
