Snow Chance In Hudson Valley Forecast

Some spring-craving Hudson Valley residents were sporting shorts and opening windows over the past few days with temperatures that topped 60 degrees. All of that is soon to come to an end — after Thursday and Friday's rain exits the East Coast — as highs in the 30s and lows in the 20s return this weekend and continue into next week.

Along with the chilly air, there is a chance of snow in the seven-day forecast.

The National Weather Service said that an air mass ahead of a weather system arriving late Tuesday may allow for any precipitation at the beginning to come down as snow. It could quickly turn to rain, though more northern parts of the Hudson Valley could see snow, freezing rain and sleet.

Here is the seven-day forecast from the NWS for northern Westchester:

• Thursday: Cloudy, with a high near 46. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming east.
• Thursday Night: Rain and possibly a thunderstorm. Patchy fog after 11pm. Low around 39. East wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
• Friday: Showers and thunderstorms likely before noon, then a slight chance of showers between noon and 1pm. Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 54. South wind 6 to 11 mph becoming west 12 to 17 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
• Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 19. Wind chill values between 5 and 15. West wind 13 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
• Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 33. Northwest wind 14 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.
• Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 17.
• Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 35.
• Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24.
• Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 37.
• Monday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 21.
• Tuesday: A 50 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35.
• Tuesday Night: A 50 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28.
• Wednesday: A 30 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41.
