Solar Project Could Yield Discount For Yorktown Customers

The elevated solar panels could provide shade for some parked cars.

YORKTOWN, NY — Customers of Con Edison in Yorktown could get a discount off their electricity bills is a solar project actually gets built. The project is proposed for the parking area of the Granite Knolls sports complex.

Electric customers could see a 10 percent discount and the town could get about $60,000 a year in revenue from the Sunrise Solar Solutions project, the Journal News reported.

The company made a presentation to the town board Tuesday and said they wanted to install elevated solar panels that could also provide shade for some of the parked cars.
