Somers Education Foundation to Honor 4 at Casino Night

Meet James Chisholm, one of four honorees at the SEF gala April 26.

Again this April the Somers Education Foundation’s annual gala includes several honorees.

This time it’s three individuals and an organization to be inducted into the SEF Hall of Fame. This will bring the total number of members in the Hall to 48.

SEF, founded in 1994 to enhance education with grants and scholarships to the Somers School District, recently topped $1 million in grants.

Here’s the first Patch post about the honorees: meet community leader James Chisholm:

Jim Chisholm has been a consummate and influential Somers community leader, serving in numerous positions including as president of the Somers Lions Club, president of the Somers Chamber of Commerce and as chair of the Somers Drug Abuse Prevention Council. He also currently serves as chair of the Westchester County Parks & Recreation Conversation Board and the Playland Citizens Committee. He also served as a board member of the American Youth Soccer Organization and coached soccer, baseball and softball. Jim has been the emcee of the Somers Independence Day celebration for many years. He has more than 30 years experience in the financial, transactions and processing field, and for the last 20 years has been president and CEO of United Processing Corporation (UPC), which provides merchants with state-of-the-art technology and services for all of their non-cash payment options. He formerly worked for Chase Manhattan Bank, National Data Corporation, Verifone, and U.S. Data Capture. He is a former chairman of the New York Sate Banking Association. Jim earned his BS degree from St. Louis University and his MBA from Iona College. He has been married to his wife, Judi, for 41 years and has three children and six grandchildren.

The Somers Education Foundation Casino Night:

When: 7-midnight April 18

Where: Putnam County Golf Course

What: casino-style games, full reception and dinner, auction and dancing.

How: Tickets are $100 and can be purchased at www.sefny.org/casino.
