SUNY Cortland freshman tailback Matt Deiana of Somers was honored by the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) for his efforts in a 72-14 home victory versus Western Connecticut State.

Deiana was chosen as the NJAC and the ECAC Div. III Southeast Special Teams Player of the Week. He averaged 44.5 yards on two kickoff returns—a 47-yarder and a 42-yarder. Deiana also scored his first collegiate touchdown on a 7-yard rush in the fourth quarter. Cortland (1-1 overall, 1-0 NJAC) travels to Morrisville State on Saturday at 7 p.m. for a league contest.
