Somers Scene Of Multi-County Science Research Fair
The fair provides the opportunity for first-year science research students to present their research in a formal setting.

SOMERS, NY — Somers High School was the scene of a Science Fair for first-year science research students June 3. The event hosted 205 students from 15 schools district in northern Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess counties. Participants presented their intended research to 165 judges in 14 different categories.
According to information from the district, the fair is the only science research competition of its kind in New York. It provides the opportunity for first-year science research students to present their research in a formal setting.
Student presentation categories included animal science, behavioral science, biochemistry cellular and molecular biology, computer science and environmental science.

At the competition, 11 of 22 Somers students placed in their category.

The Science Research Fair previously was held at Westlake High School in Thornwood, but outgrew that facility. The competition was split in half with southern districts going to Westlake and more northern district competing at Somers High School.
