You may be thinking about how many more days you can go to the beach, but the first day of school is just around the corner. With that in mind, here are important dates for the 2015-16 school year in the Somers school district.

First day of school: Sept. 2

Labor Day (school closed): Sept. 7

Rosh Hashanah (school closed): Sept. 14, 15

Yom Kippur (school closed): Sept. 23

Columbus Day (school closed): Oct. 12

Professional Learning Day (school closed): Oct. 13

Veterans Day (no school): Nov. 11

Thanksgiving recess (half-day): Nov. 25

Thanksgiving (school closed): Nov. 26-27

Holiday recess: Dec. 23-Jan. 3 (school resumes Jan. 4)

Professional Learning Day (school closed): Jan. 15

Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday (school closed): Jan. 18

Presidents Day/Winter recess (school closed): Feb. 15-19

Professional Learning Day (school closed): March 11

Spring recess: March 24-28

Holiday recess: April 22-25

Memorial Day weekend (school closed): May 27-30

Half-days: June 22-23

Last day of school: June 23
