Summer Construction at Lakeland Schools

Lakeland began Phase I of the Safety and Security Bond work this summer so every building has been under construction.

In addition, crews did some extensive work throughout the district - repaving at George Washington Elementary and Lakeland-Copper Beech Middle School (last winter took its toll and these buildings were the worst); resurfacing of track at Lakeland High School; and ceiling replacement at Benjamin Franklin throughout the entire building.

The safety work has included the creation of security windows at all entrances, security vestibules at entrances of all schools (except Lakeland High School, which already had a double set of doors), and installation of security lock sets in all classrooms districtwide.
