The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow With Annie at the Yorktown Stage
The familiar Broadway musical comes to the Yorktown Stage for six performances from April 2 to April 10.
The Yorktown Stage has built a reputation for bringing Broadway-esque productions such as "Grease" and "Fiddler on the Roof" to Northern Westchester, and their current production of "Annie" seems to be no different, as the actors made their final preparations for their big matinee opening on Saturday, April 2.
The musical will run for six performances over the next two weekend, but seats to the kid-friendly show are going quickly, with three of the six shows are already sold out.
Finding the right young actress to play the much sought-after role of the lovable orphan Annie can be a daunting task, but director Greg Baccarini decided in the end that two Annies are better than one, casting actresses Melissa Goldberg and Jessica Leff in the staring role.

“I have family coming all the way from Florida to see the show, so that’s exciting,” saidd Leff, while wearing her signature Annie red wig and costume just before going on stage for the dress rehearsal on Friday evening.
Leff, of Goldens Bridge, recently completed a production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," and while this is her first Yorktown Stage production, she has been acting since she was four years old.
Acting in alternate performances with be the bubbly Melissa Goldberg of Briarcliff Manor, who is also making her Yorktown Stage debut. She is also no stranger to theater, having acted in a production of "Les Miserable" in 2009.

“I don’t really get nervous because if I forget where I'm supposed to be, the audience won’t know anyway,” remarked Goldberg.
Another interesting part about the cast of "Annie" is that the entire Berkson family will be performing in the show, with Jennie Berkson taking on the important role of Miss Farrell, Oliver Warbucks’ assistant; twins Amanda and Olivia Berkson in orphan character roles; and Alan Berkson, play various roles in the ensemble.
“It’s great that we can all be together for this show as I have been in two other productions with my daughters in the past,” said Berkson.
With the cast and crew putting the finishing touches on the production, "Annie" is sure to delight their audiences over the next two weekends. For ticket information, click here.
