Thomas Jefferson Elementary School kicked off its One School One Book (OSOB) project Friday (January 6) with an assembly and the handing out of the book chosen for the school, "Charlotte's Web".
Students will be reading their own copy of the book for the next month. One School One Book is part of the Read to Them Foundation, a non-for-Profit Corporation that focuses on family literacy. The TJ PTA has purchased a book for each child and each staff member through the Read to Them Foundation. Students received monthly reading calendars and book marks for parents and children to keep track of their chapter reading.
Teachers will encourage conversation around the chapters through guided activities, vocabulary awareness. In addition to the ongoing activities, TJ will hold culminating activities later in the year.
