Three Lakeland District Students National Merit Semifinalists
Students from Lakeland High School and Walter Panas Honored
Two students from Lakeland High School and one from Walter Panas High School have been named 2019 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists.
They are among 16,000 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists nationwide. The scholarship organization
announced the names recently in the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program. The students named represent less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.
The semifinalists from Lakeland High School are Alison D. Bretti and Jothi M. Ramaswamy.

From Walter Panas High School, the semifinalist is Riti Bhandarkar
They now have the opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered next spring. About 90 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and about half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar® title.
