So you signed up for Relay for Life...
And now you have to fundraise & you need some ideas! Well, here you go! Don’t forget, even though Relay is on June 12, you can fundraise through August for 2015!
Here are the Top 10 Ways to fundraise:
- Send emails through your Relay dashboard. When you log into your Relay for Life page, click “my Relay Dashboard” and it’s going to bring you to your page! From here, click on “ask for donations” under My Fundraising Tools & choose compose an email. From here, you can import your contacts, use a template and send out lots of emails! It keeps track of who you sent a message too so you can keep track!
- Host an event! Most teams get lots of donations from hosting an event. Talk to your team, see what interests you guys & how you can make a fundraiser from it!
- Post on social media because social media is a powerful tool. Post your story, tell people why you are relaying, share a picture & don’t forget to post your individual fundraising link! (When you’re in your relay dashboard, click on personalize your page. It’s a good idea to add a personal picture & story. But you’ll see your personal link where it says: My URL.)
- Fill up a water bottle with dimes to raise $100. How simple is this?!
- Sell luminaria which light up the night at Relay. A luminaria is a great way to celebrate somebody’s cancer journey or to remember a loved one’s fight. Each luminaria is a $10 donation & is the perfect amount for anybody to donate.
- Ask a business to be a Relay sponsor. Sponsorship is critical to Relay! If you secure a sponsor, that money can go right to you! Visit www.relayforlife.org/YorktownNY for more information on sponsorship.
- Ask your employer to match gifts. Many places are able to match what you raise or at least up to a certain amount. It can double what you raise & help you hit your fundraising goal!
- Volunteer at the boot drive during Paint the Town Purple on May 1! It’s a fun event in town & if you’re willing to help out, you can raise some money at the same time!
- Send letters because sometimes the touch of a personalized letter is so meaningful, it might compel somebody to make a donation. Hop over to the post office & pick up your book of stamps so you’re all ready for mailing day!
- Make a personal donation! Dedicate a luminaria or kickoff your fundraising by showing people that you are not only asking for donations, but that you’re making donations too!
