Trio Accused Of Shoplifting From Macy's

Police said the three Orange County residents left the store without paying for merchandise.

YORKTOWN, NY — Three Orange County residents were accused of shoplifting from Macy's in the Jefferson Valley Mall. Yorktown police said Channon W. Powell, 35, of Newburgh, Maurice D. Williams, 38, of Newburgh an Evelyn Cruz, 32, of Wallkill, were charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony.

Police said, around 8:45 p.m. Monday, a report was received about three people who fled from the store in a car after stealing merchandise.

The vehicle was located on Route 6 and was stopped by police on Mahopac Avenue.

Police said the three people left Macy's without paying for merchandise valued at $1010.

They were arrested and taken to police headquarters for processing.

Powell and Williams were released on $100 bail each. Cruz was released on her own recognizance.

They are due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court Dec. 3.
