A longtime Yorktown resident, Mr. Raver worked at IBM.

Long time former Yorktown resident, Norman Raver, 86, passed away on January 3, 2015, after a brief illness.
On February 2, 1928, Norman was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Fanny and Louie Rubenfeld and later married Veronica Rocasky from Plains, PA.
Mr. Raver received a B.E.E. degree (electrical engineering) from the City College of New York in 1948 and an M.E.E. degree from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn in 1951. He served with the U.S. Air Force as an airman and later as a government contracting civilian for ITT, managing hardware and software development groups.

In 1961, Mr. Raver joined IBM and worked on the development of information retrieval and library systems. Later Norman worked on text processing, voice recognition and was involved with the early development of file design generation. He was the originator of Data Base Design Aid, the author of several peer reviewed articles and free patented designs now available on the Internet for public use.
Norman is survived by his three children, Liz, Dede and Matthew, his grandchildren Gina and Michael, his sisters-in-law Juanita and Natalie, his brother-in-law Jimmy, his daughter-in-law Marie and his niece and nephew Alice and Peter.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, 12:30 – 2:30pm, at Clark Funeral Home in Yorktown Heights.
Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to either the Wounded Warriors Program or the VFW.
