Westchester Conman Arrested After Posing As Lawyer: NYSP

He defrauded a victim in a virtual Alcoholics Anonymous group out of $7,500 for legal fees despite not actually being a lawyer, cops said.

SOMERS, NY — A man claiming to be an attorney targeted people in recovery, according to police.

New York State Police say that troopers from the Somers barracks arrested a man for pretending to be an attorney and targeting victims on virtual substance abuse venues.

After investigating, state police found that 56-year-old David Karaca, of Somers, a/k/a "David Radcliffe", a/k/a "David Corazza," posed as an attorney on a Los Angeles-based Alcoholics Anonymous group. He defrauded a victim out of $7,500 for legal fees despite not actually being a lawyer, according to police.

Karaca was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Somers Court for felony third degree grand larceny.
