Westchester Schedules Household Recycling Day Event
In addition to properly labelled household chemicals, residents can bring documents for shredding or unwanted medications.
WHITE PLAINS, NY — The first county-wide Household Recycling Day event of 2019 will be held in Yorktown Heights. Westchester County's Department of Environmental Facilities will be conducting the event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 6 at Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park, 2957 Crompond Road in Yorktown Heights.
In 2018, the county held three recycling day events, the first held in the county since 2012. Events held at the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in Yonkers, FDR State Park and at Rye Playland attracted more than 7,250 visitors who delivered more than 200,000 pounds of household waste.
For Saturday's event, in addition to properly labelled household chemicals and other special wastes found in a typical household, residents can bring documents for shredding and expired or unwanted medications for disposal.
