Westchester Tax Accountant Sentenced For Tax Fraud

He pleaded guilty to two felonies, authorities said.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Westchester tax accountant was sentenced for tax fraud Thursday. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Steve Sabba, 61, of Yorktown Heights, and his company, Tax Pro Financial Network, Inc., were sentenced for tax fraud and related crimes following an investigation by the state Department of Taxation and Finance and the Westchester County District Attorney's Office.

In February, Sabba pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal tax fraud and fourth-degree criminal tax fraud, felonies.

He was sentenced to five years' probation, during which he must be monitored by an authorized tax professional in the preparation of tax returns.

Sabba made restitution in the amount of $25,270, which will be sent to the state Tax Department, and $7,717 to Synchrony Bank.

Tax Pro was sentenced to a three-year conditional discharge.

Police said Sabba evaded personal and corporate income tax by using credit cards in the name of a former employee in order to avoid detection by authorities.
