When you sign up your team at www.relayforlife.org/YorktownNY each team is required to have a team captain. That’s going to be the person who rallies your team, is the point person for team fundraisers as well as being the person we at your Yorktown Relay get in touch with about all things Relay! Are there meetings to help me out with being a successful captain?

There sure are! We hold monthly team captain meetings for all our team captains! It’s at these meetings where you’ll learn more about the American Cancer Society, how you can get more involved, learn some tricks on fundraising, get a better idea of what to expect at Relay, hear about other fundraisers, share yours, ask questions & more!

As a newer team captain, are there additional resources for me?

Yes! You can start by signing up for our Team Ambassador Program. This is a great program for all team captains-no matter how many years they’ve been Relaying. As a member of our program, you’ll be paired up with an experienced team captain. You’ll work with them throughout the year & they’ll be there to answer all your questions! They’ll become your one-on-one guide to Relay. Take advantage of their knowledge & experience. They'll help you with so many of your questions including how to set up a fundraiser, how to use your Relay Dashboard, easy ways to fundraise & what to expect at Relay. You can sign up by emailing our ACS staff partner Kait at kaitlin.chieco@cancer.org.

Where else can I go for resources?

You can join Relay Nation! Relay Nation is a huge community that extends outside of Yorktown. You can sign up & create a profile. They have tons of different tools from fundraising, team development and everything in between. You can post discussion to get input from Relays all over the nation! Visit www.relaynation.relayforlife.org to sign up!
