While Judge Raniolo is too modest to share these kinds of comments, I think it’s important that Yorktown citizens know what kind of person they elected. Over the Holidays, he received a card from someone who had spent time supporting a relative who was appearing in Yorktown Justice Court:
“Dear Judge Raniolo,
I have had the opportunity to sit in your courtroom several times in the last two years. My [relative] had made a serious mistake……. With [legal] representation and your wise decisions [my relative] has moved on and is doing well. Thank you.

But I am writing to say that what I witnessed in your courtroom has restored my faith in the system. You were respectful always. Kind whenever possible, always fair, always hoping that people would do better, and yes! tough when needed.
I so admire and respect your approach to every person, every life. While leaders on the national scene do not inspire…. you do! You clearly take seriously the power of your position while remaining respectful of individuals. I have been a teacher or counselor for 40 years. Like you, I always hope to provide that one inspiration, one kindness that helps another.

I want to thank you for all you do for those in your court and the spirit you bring to your important work.”
I thought I’d share these observations with you as evidence of Gary’s commitment over the last 8 years to be a judge Yorktown can be proud of. – Mike Valerio
