When Do Schools Close, Reopen for Holidays 2016 in Yorktown, Somers?
It's a short vacation this year in Somers, Lakeland and Yorktown based on when Christmas, Hanukkah and New Year's Day fall.
YORKTOWN, NY — It's just the way the calendar falls in 2016. Christmas Eve is on a Saturday; Hanukkah is on a Sunday; New Year's Day is on a Sunday.
And that's why all the school districts' holiday vacation seems a little shorter. Yorktown and Somers schools will be closed Dec. 23 through Jan. 2. The last day of school in Lakeland is Dec. 23. School resumes Jan. 3, 2017.
