Woman Arrested After Leaving Kids Alone In Car: Police

The children were 8 months and 2 years old.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Somers woman was arrested for leaving her children alone in a car. Yorktown Police said Kary Hyunjeong Sarrey, 37, of Jean Way in Somers, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

Police said, on Dec. 7, they received a report from a motorist at Toy R Us that two children had been left alone in a car for 15 minutes. On arrival, an officer investigated and located Sarrey a few minutes later leaving the toy store.

Police said she left her 2-year-old and her 8-month-old children unattended in her vehicle for an extended period of time while she shopped in Toys R Us.

Sarrey was arrested and arraigned in the Yorktown Town Court and released on her own recognizance.

She is scheduled to reappear in court Dec. 14.
