Woman Steals $540 In Clothing From Dick's With A Child In Tow: Police

The 32-year-old was with a 9-year-old when she shoplifted the items from the sporting goods store at the Jefferson Valley Mall, cops said.

YORKTOWN, NY — Police say a woman had a small child with her when she stole items from a mall store.

The Yorktown Police Department says the 32-year-old Jefferson Valley woman was charged with misdemeanor petit larceny, misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child and misdemeanor criminal possession of stolen property.

On November 4, around 4 p.m., officers responded to Dick's Sporting Goods for a report of a larceny. After obtaining a description of the suspect, police found her inside the Jefferson Valley Mall allegedly in possession of the stolen goods.

Further investigation revealed that the woman allegedly stole assorted clothing valued at $540.00 from Dick's Sporting Goods, reportedly passing all points of sale and making no attempt to pay for the items, all in the presence of a 9-year-old child. She was arrested and taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.

After processing, the woman was issued appearance tickets for the charges and then released on her own recognizance. She is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court on November 21.
