Woman Tries To Take Child Out Of Classroom, Gets Arrested

Police said she was neither a relative nor a guardian of the child.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Croton-on-Hudson woman was arrested after police said she tried to take a child, for whom she was not a relative or guardian, out of a classroom. Yorktown Police said Lesla K. Gagliotti, 49, of Young Avenue in Croton-on-Hudson, entered a classroom Jan. 22 around 10:49 a.m. at Yorktown Presbyterian Church and tried to take a child out of the arms of a teacher.

Gagliotti, police said, was not a relative of the child nor did she have custody.

She was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a minor, a misdemeanor.

Gagliotti was arraigned and sent to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $1,500 bail.

She is due back in Yorktown Town Court Feb. 6.
