Yorktown 21-Year-Old Faces DWI Charges

Police allege the driver crashed into a parked car and then down an embankment.

YORKTOWN, NY — A crash at 1:35 a.m. Saturday led to drunken driving and traffic charges against Jelson Lobato Yambay, 21.

Police called to East Main Street found a vehicle had gone off the road, struck a parked car and ended up down an embankment. At the scene, the officer concluded that the driver was intoxicated, police said.

At Yorktown police headquarters, a test of the Indian Hill Road resident's blood-alcohol level resulted in a BAC of 0.18 percent, more than twice the legal limit, police said.

He was released to a responsible person and is due in Yorktown town court July 14, to answer charges of driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated and traffic infractions.
