Yorktown Attracts New Business- Stay Positive

17 New Businesses in last 2 months! Kudos, Lanny Gilbert!

Subject: Yorktown Attracts New Businesses – Be Positive

I was writing this letter praising Supervisor Gilbert’s efforts to bring business to Yorktown when I was dismayed to read the negative comments by his predecessor in the Yorktown News.

Well on a positive note, Yorktown welcomed many new businesses in 2018. One of the first decisions any entrepreneur must make is where to locate the business. Owners do a careful assessment of costs, available labor, market trends and potential revenues. Owners also evaluate how easy it is to work with local government.

Government support includes a welcoming attitude.

When Lanny Gilbert took office, he redirected the thinking to a more transparent environment where business can flourish and his only obligations are to the people.

He established the Economic Revitalization Committee to analyze ways Yorktown can be even more welcoming and desirable. This Committee includes the Small Business Association and the Chamber.

Here are some of the new businesses that selected Yorktown for their business location in 2018.
Pappous Greek Kitchen, MMC Productions, Verizon, The Bagel Emporium, Lalas Exotic Cuts, Bear Mountain Coffee Roasters, Shrub Oak International School, Xclusive Cuts 2.0, Hill Blvd Diner, Catania’s Pizza, Level Up Fitness, Fresh Coat Painters…

The growth is there as Eric DiBartollo pointed out at the 12/18/18 Town Board meeting stating the “Chamber added 17 new members in the past two months.”

And early 2019 will see additional businesses such Level Fitness Clubs, Cohen Family Smiles, Goldfish Swim School and 24 Hour Fitness.

So, kudos to Supervisor Gilbert and let’s maintain this positive attitude and growth.
