Yorktown Fall Fair-Goers Were Generous with their Blood
Special congratulations to the people who donated for the first time!

The blood drive at the Yorktown Community and Cultural Center was very successful, Red Cross officials said.
Amazingly, 44 of the 60 people who signed in were first-time donors with the Red Cross. That’s unusual—and good news for the future of blood banks.
The blood drive, plus an organ-donor recruitment drive, took place at the Yorktown Community and Cultural Center during the Fall Festival and Street Fair organized by the town and the Chamber of Commerce.

“We were able to obtain 54 units of blood which will help 162 patients,” said Thomas Kane of the Red Cross in an email to David Rocco, one of the organizers of the blood drive. “The feedback from many of the donors was very positive and they were happy we were there and would like to see more blood drives in the future. We would be more than willing to set up future dates, perhaps on a quarterly basis or whatever works for the town.”
