Yorktown Girl Scouts Involve Community in Service Project

From Troop 1383

Yorktown GS troop 1383, 15 fifth-graders from Crompond Elementary School, worked on and completed their Bronze award in 2014.

The girls ran a community service event called Girl Scout Hobby Night.

This event was attended by 131 Girl Scouts from Lakeland and Yorktown, from Daisies to Junior scouts, at Solaris Sports club on Nov. 7.

The girls had work stations where the attendees could learn about and try out different hobbies–including Sewing, Softball. Skin Care, Cheerleading, Soccer, Tae Kwon Do and Baking.

Each girl who attended brought with them a service donation to benefit the Peekskill Head start program.

On Dec. 23, the members of troop 1383 brought the supplies to the students at Peekskill Head Start.

The members of Junior troop 1383 are: Shannon Appelle, Helena Barletti, Maggie Coughlin, Kaitlyn Crowley, Brianna Ferra, Claudia Fraioli, Julia Galletti, Emily Piehler, Samantha Longo, Lily Meistrich, Isabelle Merlini, Hailey Moran, Emma Smyth, Lindsey Townes, Isabella Torres and the Troop Leaders are Cathy Meisterich and Michele Merlini.
