Yorktown Heights Man Arrested After Slapping, Kicking Woman

A judge issued a temporary order of protection on behalf of the woman.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Yorktown Heights man was arrested for trying to assault a woman during a domestic dispute. Yorktown Police said Joseph S. Franco, 40, of Mohansic Avenue, was charged with third-degree attempted assault, a misdemeanor.

Police said they responded around 10:37 a.m. June 28 to a Mohansic Avenue address for a reported domestic dispute. An investigation found that Franco tried to cause physical injuries to a woman by slapping her on the back and kicking her in the leg during a domestic dispute.

Franco was arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court by a judge who issued a temporary order of protection on behalf of the victim.

He was released on his own recognizance and is due back in court July 20.
