Yorktown Man Accused Of Damaging Car, Resisting Arrest

Police said the man faces a variety of charges.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Yorktown man was arrested on a variety of charges after he was accused of kicking in a car window. Yorktown police said Matthew P. Theis, 27, of Yorktown, was charged with tampering with physical evidence and third-degree criminal mischief, felonies, and resisting arrest, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, third-degree attempted criminal mischief and criminal tampering, misdemeanors.

Police said they were called around 2:50 a.m. June 6 to a Yorktown residence where Theis resisted arrest by interfering with police.

They said he tried to push past an officer who was conducting an investigation and refused to be taken into custody.

Theis was also accused of tampering with physical evidence at the scene of a crime.

Police said he caused more than $250 worth of damage to a car by kicking its door. Theis also tampered with a toilet, police said.

He was arraigned and sent to the Westchester County Department of Corrections.

Theis is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court June 13.
