Yorktown Man Accused Of Drunken Driving After 2-Car Crash

Police said his blood alcohol content was found to be 0.18 percent or more.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Yorktown man was accused of driving while drunk after a two-car accident Sunday.

The Yorktown Police Department said Manuel Lazo Lazo, 33, of Yorktown, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated no priors and driving while intoxicated, first offense, misdemeanors, and fail to maintain lane and disregard a traffic control device, traffic infractions.

Police said, shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday, officers were sent to a two-car accident on Underhill Avenue near the intersection with Route 118.

Lazo was identified as the driver and sole occupant of one of the cars involved in the accident.

Based on the officer's investigation, Lazo's car crossed the double yellow line and struck another vehicle going in the opposite direction, police said.

According to authorities, Lazo ignored a traffic control device, didn't stay in his lane and was driving while intoxicated.

He was arrested and taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.

Once at police headquarters, it was discovered Lazo had a blood alcohol content of 0.18 percent or more, police said.

He was issued traffic tickets and released on his own recognizance to a responsible adult.

Lazo is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court Feb. 3.
