UPDATE: Yorktown Man Accused of Punching Boy After Bike Accident ID'd
Police said the man fled the scene but was tracked down.

UPDATE: YORKTOWN, NY — The Yorktown man who police say assaulted a 14-year-old boy after a bicycle collision has been identified by the police.
A spokesman for the Westchester County Police said Gregory Avon, 59, of Erin Court, was charged with third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors.
He was arrested about an hour after the incident occurred around 10:05 a.m. Saturday on the North County Trailway in Mount Pleasant.

The two had collided as they rode their bicycles.
Avon is accused of punching the boy in the face, causing a serious injury to the youth’s jaw and mouth that required surgery.

Police said, after the assault, Avon rode north on the bike path and was followed by several bicyclists who had come upon the scene after the confrontation.
Multiple Westchester county patrol officers, assisted by the Westchester County Police aviation unit helicopter and Pleasantville police, searched the area but couldn’t immediately find the man.
He was spotted about 11:15 a.m. near Routes 22 and 120 in North Castle and was taken into custody.
Avon was booked at county police headquarters in Hawthorne and released pending an Oct. 6 Mount Pleasant Town Court appearance.

YORKTOWN, NY — A 59-year-old Yorktown man faces an assault charge — and more — after he punched and broke the jaw of a 14-year-old boy Saturday, police said.
The man was tracked down after the alleged incident, according to police, who said it happened after the two collided while riding bicycles on the North County Trailway in Mount Pleasant, the Journal News said.
A search for the man was undertaken by helicopter, and he was taken into custody in North Castle, the Journal News said.
