Yorktown Man Arrested On Felony Charges After Shooting, Killing Dog: Police
The upsetting incident took place in Westchester County, after one dog was attacked by another dog, Yorktown police said.
YORKTOWN, NY — A Westchester man is accused of taking extreme measures in response to a fight between dogs, according to police.
The Yorktown Police Department says that 61-year-old James Molloy, of Yorktown, was arrested and charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals, and felony first-degree reckless endangerment.
On Wednesday, around 7:30 p.m., Yorktown police responded to Route 118 after receiving a report of a dog attacking another dog. Investigators say they instead found that Molloy used a firearm in a public space, shooting and killing the victim's dog.

Molloy was taken to Yorktown Police Department headquarters for processing. He was released on his own recognizance and is due back in court on August.11. A temporary order of protection was issued protecting the victim.
