Yorktown Man Faces Domestic Violence Charges
Police were called to a Hanover Street apartment Sunday.
YORKTOWN, NY — A 43-year-old Hanover Street resident is accused of choking and punching a victim from whom he had taken a cell phone so she couldn't call 911.
Police said they were called at 11 p.m. Sunday to a domestic incident at 1892 Hanover St. After an investigation, they arrested Raphael K. Ayensu, alleging he threatened to kill the victim, took her cell phone, squeezed her neck and punched her.
He is due to appear in Yorktown town court Aug. 20 to answer charges of criminal obstruction of breathing, criminal mischief, attempted assault and harassment, three misdemeanors and a violation. He was held on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.

An order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim.
