Yorktown Man Killed In Two-Car Crash In Dutchess County
The driver of the other car faces charges of being in possession of a forged license.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Yorktown Heights man was killed Wednesday in a two-car fatal crash in Dutchess County, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office said. The crash occurred on Noxon Road in the Town of LaGrange around 11 p.m. The preliminary investigation found that Jonathan J. Steer, 26, of Yorktown Heights was driving a 2000 Honda Civic southbound on Noxon Road when it crossed over the center pavement marking and struck a northbound 2006 Dodge Ram, driven by Santiago M. Castillo, 38, of Poughkeepsie, with his passenger Jose R. Castillo, 49, also of Poughkeepsie.
Steere was taken to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The two other men were taken to Vassar Hospital where they were treated for non-threatening injuries.

Sheriff’s Deputies said evidence shoed that Steer was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
During the investigation, authorities found that Santiago M. Castillo was allegedly driving without a license and was in possession of a forged Pennsylvania license.

He was arrested and charged with unlicensed operation of vehicle, a traffic infraction, and possession of a forged instrument, a felony.
Castillo was processed and released on appearance tickets to return to the Town of LaGrange Court August 15.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the LaGrange Fire Department.
The investigation is continuing by members of the Accident Investigation Unit.
