Yorktown to Name Bridge after Pfc Fahey in Ceremony May 21
The Yorktown resident was killed in Afghanistan in 2011.

A Dedication ceremony will be held Saturday naming a Yorktown bridge in honor of Army Specialist David R. Fahey, Jr., who served and died in Afghanistan.
"David made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedom," said state Senator Terrence Murphy in a prepared statement. "Rededicating this bridge in his honor is a fitting tribute to this service and to the loving family that raised him. We can never do enough for men like David. In his short life he displayed all the qualities of a true American hero."
Adopted at age 10 by his aunt and uncle, Pfc. Fahey was raised in Yorktown with a large family of siblings and cousins. He enlisted in the Army in 2007 and served a year in Korea. In 2009 he was then assigned to a military police unit. A year later, his company was deployed to Afghanistan.
Fahey's final mission was on February 28, 2011 during Operation Enduring Freedom in Kandahar province of Afghanistan when an IED exploded underneath the Humvee he was driving. He was 23.
