Yorktown Police Catch, Charge Man with Burglary

The homeowner struggled with the intruder. Later, a search turned up a suspect.

At about 12:24 a.m. Sept. 24, Yorktown police got a 911 call from a resident of Deer Street, reporting an intruder--and a scuffle.

But the homeowner hadn’t been able to hold onto the man.

Officers Paul Grieve, Matthew Raccioppo and Jason Payne, and Sgt. Gary Fister, responded to the scene, talked to the homeowner, and began a systematic search first of the house and then of the neighborhood. They were assisted by Yorktown police detectives and the Westchester County Police K-9 unit.

As a consequence, they arrested Deer Track Court resident Ozar Kahn, 28. Police alleged he forced his way into the Deer Street home with the intention of stealing money.

Kahn was sent to Westchester County Jail on $20,000 cash bail. He is due back in town court Oct. 6.
