YORKTOWN, NY — The town of Yorktown reopened the Hill Boulevard Bridge Tuesday, following a $2.6 million replacement of the culvert over a Barger Brook tributary.

According to a news release from the town, the original culver was in extremely poor condition and had been "red-flagged" by the state Department of Transportation for many years.

Transit Construction Corp. was the contractor and delivered the project on time.

Yorktown Highway Superintendent Dave Paganelli said Transit suffered many setback throughout the project.

"But they've done a great job and we're thrilled with our partnership," he said.

The project was designed by the Williams Sale Partnership of USA, located in New York.

The five-month project consisted of a rectangular-shaped precast concrete culvert that is 32 feet wide by 15 feet deep with a 10-foot-high opening.

Surrounding areas of the culvert were cleared and reshaped and new landscaping was installed to enhance the "gateway" to Jefferson Village.

New utility lines were incorporated into the construction to improve the town's sewer system and water supply.
