Town heritage preservation commission chair now also New York co-chair of National Washington-Rochambeau organization.

Yorktown’s Lynn Briggs has been named co-chair of the New York State Committee of The National Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route Association, Inc. (W3R-US), a program with the National Park Service that engages, inspires and educates the public about the history of the American Revolution. W3R-US places specific emphasis on the support from France and the French people to provide crucial aid to the Continental Army to win independence from Britain.
In this new role, Briggs will partner with long-time W3R-US NY State Chair and former National W3R-US Chair Janet Burnet and the state committee to further the goals of W3R-US and the National Park Service. Among committee members are Jeff Canning, W3R-US national recording secretary; Colonel James M. Johnson, Ph.D., of Thayer Leadership; Constance M. Kehoe, president of Revolutionary Westchester 250; Susan Seal, president of Friends of Odell House Rochambeau Headquarters; Craig Long, Rockland County historian; and Scott Keller, executive director, Hudson River Valley Greenway.
“I am thrilled to welcome Lynn as co-chair,” stated Burnet. “She will bring specific Westchester focus to this important historic endeavor. Her strong strategic thinking, programmatic creativity and sheer ability to get things done will be valuable assets as we continue to increase awareness of the American Revolution, the Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route National Historic Trail, and New York State’s important role during those crucial years.”

“New York State and Yorktown have robust Revolutionary War history,” said Briggs. “Revolutionary War events, including the First Rhode Island Regiment Battle at Pines Bridge and the French encampments, both to and from the victorious Battle of Yorktown, occurred right here in our own backyard. I am eager to collaborate with Janet and the local municipalities in Westchester and Rockland Counties to stimulate interest in the events of the Revolution, leading to increased NYS cultural heritage tourism and economic vibrancy as we approach the 250th anniversary of our independence.”
Briggs’ volunteerism encompasses many local organizations: chair of the Yorktown Heritage Preservation Commission and the Yorktown 250 Committee; board of trustees member, Westchester County Historical Society; board of directors member, Friends of Miller House / Washington’s Headquarters, Inc., and co-chair of This Man’s a Spy!, a Revolutionary Westchester 250 initiative. A native Californian, Briggs holds both Bachelor of Science and Masters of Business Administration degrees from the University of California at Berkeley, with domestic and international business experience with three Fortune 200 companies
