Yorktown, Somers, Lakeland To Vote On 2017-18 School Budgets Tuesday

Two of the districts have contested races for school board trustees.

YORKTOWN, NY — Voters in the Yorktown, Somers and Lakeland school districts will go to the polls Tuesday to decide whether to approve budgets for the 2017-18 school year. The budget package for Yorktown Central School District is $98,170,000, up 1.26 percent from the current year’s spending plan.

Voters will also be choosing board members, who are running unopposed. For information on who is on the ballot, go here.

The polls on Tuesday will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Mohansic Elementary School, 704 Locksley Rd.

The budget package for Somers Central School District is $88,330,309, up 1.64 percent from the current year’s spending plan.

There are five people running for two open board seats. For information on who is running, go here.

The polls on Tuesday will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Somers Middle School gym.

The budget package for Lakeland Central School District is $162,716,765, up 0.75 percent from the current year’s spending plan.

Also on the ballot will be whether to establish a capital reserve fund up to $20 million with a maximum term of 10 years and a transportation bond for new buses and vehicles.

The polls on Tuesday will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Van Cortlandtville Elementary School, 3100 East Main St., Route 6, Mohegan Lake.
